Mastering the Art of Presentation
“The success of your presentation will be judged not by the knowledge you send but by what the listener receives.” – Lilly Walters
We all have thoughts to share, ideas worth spreading and a personality to present. One should know the art of presentation to communicate his/her ideas and stories effectively. Here are a few criteria one should keep in mind to master the art of presentation. Know your audience When you are communicating with someone of higher authority, you need to speak formally.
But, when you are communicating your ideas with the general public or your classmates, you can articulate them cleverly with anecdote and humour. Focus on interpretation If listeners interpret the ideas in the wrong way, things may go down completely unexpected. So, read between the lines before presenting anything and emphasize clarity. Avoid monotony Refrain from stretching your presentation unnecessarily and keep it short, simple and easy to comprehend.
No one likes to listen to complicated ideas which are hard to decipher. Make sure you get the audience engaged in your conversation to maintain active listening and to avoid boredom. Construct the content wisely Prepare yourself well before presenting your ideas and refrain from abrupt ending. The content should be cohesive, straightforward and interesting.
