XIM Bhubaneswar Hosts Business Excellence Summit, 2024

For over three decades, Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar, has been a cornerstone in shaping exceptional business leaders, emphasizing not only academic rigor but also holistic personal development. In line with this vision, XIM Bhubaneswar’s Sports Committee inaugurated Athlos, its flagship sporting event, on 18th June 2024. This three-day extravaganza is recognized as one of the most prominent sporting festivals in Eastern India, uniting athletes and enthusiasts for an unforgettable celebration of competition and camaraderie.

As one of the nation’s leading business schools, the institution proudly hosts a wide range of sporting events, drawing enthusiastic participation from top B-schools across the country, along with esteemed alumni of XIM Bhubaneswar. The inaugural day kicked off with a nail-biting badminton mixed doubles match between XIM Bhubaneswar-A and XIM Bhubaneswar-B, followed by an exhilarating lineup of matches in cricket, futsal, pool, and chess, setting the tone for the intense competition and excitement to follow.

Day two of Athlos began with an intense volleyball match between XIM Bhubaneswar and IMI Bhubaneswar, where IMI ultimately claimed victory after a hard-fought battle. As the day progressed, the badminton mixed doubles and futsal matches became the center of attention, drawing in a sizable crowd of enthusiastic spectators. The adrenaline continued with matches in football, carrom, tennis, and throwball, offering a packed schedule that kept the audience thoroughly entertained. The evening’s excitement carried on with table tennis and pool matches, where the energy and applause from spectators brought the day’s events to a thrilling conclusion.

The final day of Athlos ’24 was filled with excitement, starting with a thrilling men’s basketball final between XIM Bhubaneswar and Birla Global University. In a hard-fought battle, BGU claimed victory with a 2-1 scoreline. Next up was the highly anticipated men’s football final between XIM Bhubaneswar and XIM University, New Campus, which drew a massive crowd. After an intense match, XIM Bhubaneswar emerged as champions, igniting celebrations among their supporters. The day’s sporting action culminated in a grand closing ceremony at the XIMB Auditorium, led by Deputy Registrar Fr. V. Arokiyadass S.J. and the evening’s Chief Guest, Mr. Mohit Samal, Chief Operating Officer of Urbane Foods, the event partner for Athlos ’24. Together, they honored the winning and runner-up teams with well-deserved awards, bringing the exhilarating sports fest to a close on a high note.

Over the course of three days, the lively sports event saw a strong turnout from both the host institution and participating colleges. Competitors faced off in 16 games across various categories. XIMB, along with the Old Campus, demonstrated exceptional performance throughout the event, finishing as overall champions. Their collective efforts resulted in securing ten victories and six runner-up positions. XIM University, New Campus, also delivered an impressive showing, clinching the runner-up spot in the overall standings, with victories in three events and second place in seven. The event provided a platform for both teams and individuals to showcase their athletic talents, fostering a competitive yet collaborative atmosphere. The success of the event was marked not only by the athletic accomplishments but also by the sportsmanship and enthusiasm shared among participants and spectators alike.
